2010 Jail Ministry Christmas Mission Project
It's time to begin gathering toys for our Jail Ministry Christmas Project. We usually need to provide toys to 600 - 700 children of the inmates of the Daviess County Detention Center. Each family also receives a New Testament. This project takes many hands, prayers and donations to work. Plan now to be a part of it.
How you can help.....
When out shopping, pick up something to be used for this project. Each toy must have a $10 value. We have found that certain toys are best suited for our project. Following is a list of preferred toys.
Footballs
Basketballs
Soccer balls
Glo Worms
Baby toys (marked on the box, or label, as appropriate for under age 3)
Small to medium stuffed animals (not holiday oriented)
Board games
Watches (for the children that are 11 or 12 years old)
Trucks, cars, etc. for all age groups
The James Fund bear - available from Family Christian Bookstore
Please do not purchase any of the following for this project.
Dolls (we can't always tell the ethnic background of the child and don't want to offend anyone)
War related toys
Toys that have policemen or police cars involved
Electronic games, CD's or DVD's
Any toy that requires batteries
Remote controlled toys
Any toy not valued at $10.00 (some families have several children and we try to make each childs gift equal in value)
Scary looking toys
